Eleven years ago, a family from Fornells decided that the best way to share what the sea gave them was to open a table for everyone.
Can Tanu opened its doors eleven years ago in the heart of Fornells, the fishing village that for centuries has lived facing the water. It wasn't born from a business project or investor pitch. It was born from a family kitchen, from Pilar and Sebastián, from recipes passed from hand to hand and from the sea that brought the best every day.
The name says it all: Can Tanu is a home. And in a home you eat like at home.
"What we serve today is the same that was cooked here before the restaurant even existed."

At Can Tanu it all started with Pilar and Sebastián, who for years filled this corner of Fornells with flavour, tradition and hospitality. Their love for Menorcan cooking and the close relationship with every diner made this restaurant a special place, full of memories and good times.
Today, that essence lives on. Verónica, with the same care she learned from her mother, continues to prepare the traditional dishes of Menorca, respecting the old recipes and the sea produce that defines us. In the dining room, Marco welcomes you with a smile and all his experience, creating the warm, family atmosphere that has always defined Can Tanu.
Here, every dish tells a story, and every visit is like coming home.
The people behind every dish.

ChefShe grew up among pots and recipes that her mother Pilar taught her without rushing. Today she is the one who lights the fire every morning. Her criterion is simple: if it's not good, it doesn't go out.

Front of houseHe's the face you see when you arrive and the voice that tells you what Pepe Nap's boat caught this morning. At Can Tanu the dining room isn't a service, it's a conversation.
The native lobster of Fornells is scarce, limited and extraordinary. We work with the traditional fishing boats that bring us the catch directly. The blue tag on the claw is its authenticity seal.
For eleven years we have been welcoming families, couples and travellers who come back. You can read their reviews directly on TripAdvisor — unfiltered, unedited.
